This week, Elder Shirley Williams Pheasant, with Paula Sherman and others, will be leading the Living and Learning Anishinaabemowin on the Land course, a land-based language and culture course which explores Anishinaabemowin through experiential learning at Mazinawgamiig (Bon Echo park), Omamiwinini territory. The course will cover basic knowledge and history of the Anishinaabe writing system, as well as songs, chants, and dances, with a special focus on environmental knowledge and human relationships at sacred sites. Those involved will explore the ethics of living in a good way (Bimaadiziwin) wherein individuals come to understand the importance of building relationships betweeen people and the land. Aging Activisms crew members Emma, Heidi, Maddy, and Aleyah will be participating.
